Most students complete the course in three days, combining classroom review, confined water training, and four open water training dives.
No. The Open Water Diver course is designed specifically for beginners. No prior scuba experience is required. Your instructor will teach you everything you need to become a safe and confident diver.
You will need your own personal snorkeling equipment for the Open Water Diver course: mask, fins, snorkel, SMB, boots, and a wetsuit, depending on the dive location. These items are available for purchase at Divers Direct, and students receive a 10% discount after signing up for the course.
The minimum age to begin scuba diving training is 10 years old. Divers ages 10–14 receive the SSI Junior Open Water Diver certification, which includes depth and supervision limitations. At age 15, divers may upgrade to the standard Open Water Diver certification.
Our instructors conduct training dives at carefully selected dive sites throughout Central Florida, including locations such as De Leon Springs, Lake Denton, Blue Grotto, and other local dive destinations. These sites provide excellent conditions for developing scuba skills, comfort, and confidence underwater.
